Soliz is an accomplished FS, who played high school football at WILMINGTON HIGH, MA. His ranking of 112 nationally, makes him a 4 star recruit. He is 6' 1" tall, weighs 186 pounds and is 19 years old. Without further ado, the scout report:

Known among his teammates as a hard worker. Speedy enough to cover. Will need to cushion a bit on the faster receivers, but that can be accounted for in play design. Solid technique on tackles.

A hot prospect, and a star coming out of high school, Shane Soliz has plenty of suitors. Tulane Green Wave pull off the upset!

The Tulane Green Wave have managed an unlikely win against Central Florida Knights.
The Knights appeared dejected towards the end of the game, while the Green Wave kept their cool and drove the victory home. Most pundits had expected the Knights to win with ease, and the loss to such an inferior opponent is a tough blow to the lofty expectations for the program. Meanwhile, the Green Wave fans were celebrating in the street, having had their hopes for the future bolstered at least momentarily.

The Rams trio of John Hampton - WR, Dana Cantrell - WR and Guy Campbell - WR are currently the leading trio of receivers in the league, with 22 receiving touchdowns between the three.

The league announced Troy Trojans quarterback Sylvester Ransom has been named Offensive Player of the Week.

The Trojans defeated the Idaho Vandals, 57 to 40. Ransom did his part, throwing 7 touchdowns, completing 16 of 33 passes for 550 yards. His outstanding performance now brings his season Touchdown to Interception Ratio to 29 to 5, and a passer rating of 145.1.

Salerno is an intriguing G, out of NORTH SPRINGS HS, GA. Salerno is a 4 star recruit, and his overall ranking is 50. Salerno is 6' 5" tall, weighs 304 pounds and is 18 years old. Alright, let us get down to business!

He helps everyone get in the right position, making the team run as a well oiled machine. Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. The guy has gets along with everyone. This is a young man who will bench press a Defensive Tackle, and not a small one! If you go to his tape, you will see he run blocks very well. Pretty clever.

Elton Salerno has a received a lot of attention from recruiters. Ohio State Buckeyes, Florida State Seminoles, Boston College Eagles, Indiana Hoosiers, Bowling Green Falcons, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, New Mexico Lobos, Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida International Golden Panthers, North Carolina Tar Heels, South Carolina Gamecocks, Troy Trojans, Central Florida Knights, Vanderbilt Commodores have all been in contact with Salerno.

My sources indicate that Ohio State Buckeyes are his current favorite destination. This seems supported by his glowing recount of his visit to the program.

Samuel Orta is T, from PARKLAND SHS, PA. His ranking of 13 nationally, makes Orta a 5 star player. Orta is 6' 2" tall, weighs 286 pounds and is 19 years old.

This guy understands what it takes to succeed. Once you have forged a bond with this kid, he will stand by you to hell and back. In the run game he blocks well, shows tenacity and opens lanes. This will benefit the team. Protects the QB well on pass plays. You can never have enough good pass blockers. Smart player. Good understanding of how plays develop, and where to be.

Howdy football addicts, to another round of Recruiting Watch With Darren Francis. As always, when we are this early in the season, we provide an in depth look at two of the best recruits. Lets go!

Martin Miller - LB:
Martin Miller is a young LB, graduating from HUME FOGG HIGH ACADEMIC MAGNET, TN. Miller is ranked as a 5 star player, and 10 overall. He is 6' 4" tall, weighs 232 pounds and is 19 years old.

This kid puts in the work. Respected for his good behavior on the field. Tackles with nice fundamentals. People usually go down. Has developed nice strength at his young age. Is fast enough to get sacks. Is fast enough to contain outside runs. Those are the players you look for at the Linebacker position.

The list of teams that have been in contact with Martin Miller is long. Charles Corral - WR:
Charles Corral is an accomplished WR, and star of the WASCO HIGH (CA) football program. His ranking of 9 nationally, makes Corral a 5 star player. Corral is 19 years old, weighs 200 pounds and is 6' 2" tall.

Every team values leadership, someone to lead by example, this is the guy. This is the kind of kid you want to promote the game. Well behaved, loves the game, and respectful. It is rare to see a kid come out of high school with this ability to catch the ball. Sufficient speed to run deep routes, and enough to make him tough to catch if you lose sight of him. Runs pretty routes. Changes direction effortlessly.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish surprise everyone!

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans are celebrating after the Fighting Irish took down the Houston Cougars.
In a superb effort the Fighting Irish kept at it, and brought home the win. The Cougars are widely considered to be the better of the two programs, but with the Fighting Irish winning the fans are hoping that the Fighting Irish will soon be able to dance with the big boys.

Week 2: RB Ricky Merriman (WASHST) wins Offensive Player of the Week

The honor comes after Merriman's 31 att, 285 yds, 6 TD performance against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Merriman was signed 2 years ago.

Merriman now has 353 Rushing Yards and 7 Touchdowns for the season.

Good day fellow recruiting enthusiasts, to a brand new edition of Recruiting Watch With Darren Francis. As you may know, in these early season installments of Recruiting Watch, we look at two of the top prospects. Alright, let us get down to business!

Lance Jude - T:
Lance Jude is an accomplished T, and star of the TRI-VALLEY HS (OH) football program. His ranking of 3 nationally, makes him a 5 star recruit. He weighs in at 307 pounds, is 6' 6" tall, at the age of 19.

He is fundamentally a good kid. You rarely see him commit stupid penalties. He takes care of his teammates. Most everyone who ever played with him, counts him as their friend. He never gives up on his coaches and teammates. He keeps fighting for them even when others give up. With this guy on the team, they will have to buy extra weights. He is just that strong. He comes of the line with power and leverage on run plays. This is something that scouts notice. He pass blocks really well.

The list of teams that have been in contact with Lance Jude is long. According to people close to Jude, all of these teams have reached out to him: Colorado State Rams, Michigan State Spartans, Clemson Tigers, Illinois Fighting Illini, East Carolina Pirates, Mississippi Rebels, Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, Auburn Tigers, Utah Utes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Boise State Broncos, Cincinnati Bearcats, Georgia Bulldogs.

Jude has been largely mum on what he is going to decide. Most people would expect him to end up committing to the Auburn Tigers.

Harold Ferrell - DE:
Harold Ferrell is a young DE, who played high school football at HARLOWTON HS, MT. His ranking of 5 nationally, makes Ferrell a 5 star recruit. He weighs in at 251 pounds, is 6' 3" tall, at the age of 19.

Would occasionally flatten offensive linemen in high school. Even in college, opponents better not try to block him with a Tight End or Running Back. Coaches like guys who tackle well.

The list of teams that have been in contact with Harold Ferrell is long. According to people close to Ferrell, all of these teams have reached out to him: Colorado State Rams, Michigan State Spartans, Clemson Tigers, Illinois Fighting Illini, East Carolina Pirates, Mississippi Rebels, Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Louisiana Monroe Warhawks, Louisiana Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns, Nevada Wolf Pack.

The Louisiana Monroe Warhawks should be a good bet to get him, he even said so himself on one occasion. But recruiters are aware that until a decision is announced, he is open to courting.
